I have one that went bad after it got to the desktop - no restart sound/video. I connected a spare 7500 power supply on top so the connectors would reach the 8500's. It restarted with a the familiar "gong" and the video came up. I am toying with the idea of adapting an ATX power supply. XLR8yourmac has the article in its archives.
