Good call, Sherman. I took the internal SCSI from one of the 8500s and put
it in the other, and the Mac booted like a charm. Now I think the problem I
have with the "donor" 8500 is a poorly seated processor card. Thanks for the
tip. I feel like I'm finally making some progress.
