You have a pretty decent Mac for upgrading and the used upgrade market is very good for buyers. A lot of Mac users are getting rid of the hardware you need for upgrades because they have moved onto newer Macs. I would go up to OS 9.1 as mentioned. Avoid OS 9.2 unless you specifically need it for an application. I have always used US Robotics modems with no problems. I would suggest adding RAM at the very least. With a decent amount of RAM (256MB or more) the 7500 will be much better. 5 volt 168pin Dimms are pretty cheap now. You can get 4k refresh 168pin 128MB Dimms for about $16.00 each + shipping on the OtherWorld Computing site. II just sold my 300MHz Sonnet G3 card on the swaplist for $40 shipped today. You can't beat the prices on used upgrades. I used it in a Power Tower Pro 250 and it made a difference and worked flawlessly. If you still have the original CD-ROM you may want to upgrade to a faster 12x or better CD-ROM. The used SCSI CD-ROMS up to 12x are cheap and plentiful. I suggest subscribing to the LEM swaplist on LowEndMac's email list page. You can post a wanted ad and get almost anything you could want for a decent price. But then again, if you pay $40+ for a G3 card you could buy a beige G3 desktop for about the same price. Ron -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
