Subject: [PCI] Zip drive in desktop G3 case?
From: Jack Countryman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I've ended up with an extra desktop G3 case and motherboard, so I'm trying
to put the rest of the computer together...(it will give me one to play with
OS X, networking, etc. or maybe to pass along). The case has the bezel for
the zip drive, and I've got both a scsi and an ide zip mechanism...but I'm
puzzled as to how the drive would mount to line up with the bezel. If I use
a typical 3.5 drive mounting sled, the zip ends up too low...by half an inch
or so...to match the slot in the case. What sort of mounting did the drive
have stock? Or how can I fabricate something to make the drive line up?

All ideas welcome... Was the stock zip in these ide or scsi? There seem to
be both cables available for use...

Jack -

My G3 had the Zip drive mounted in a 'U' formed sheet metal mounting that was attached to a standard sled. That raised it the approximate 1/2" above the sled you are missing. Mine is an IDE interface version, but I am sure you can also use the SCSI, as long as there is no ID conflict.

HTH,

Tad
