Install a PCI-Fast-ethernetcard in your 6400. Cheap. You can use a straight
or a cross-overcable (iMac is selfsensoring).
Having OS 8.6/9.x.x on your 6500: Startup your 6500 from a CD with a useable
systemfolder and copy your complete HD to the iMac. Costs < US$/Euro 15 .
IMHO: The simpliest and cheapest of all the ways to handle your question.
