A simple matter of economics, IDE controllers and drives were ( and still are) substantially cheaper than SCSI. These machines (Performa/Power Macinhtosh 5/6x00) were consumer/business grade units (rather that the professional grade Power Macintosh 7/8/9x00 units which were all SCSI right up until 1997). >TV Card?
