Hi Brian,
PRAM battery, when was it last replaced. This can cause the "?" and other problems during system restarts
Hmmm... No telling. This is inside the tower right, and I can get a replacement at Walmart??
Maybe in the camera section, but they definitely carry them at Radio Shack.
Can do this easily---it hasn't been opened in years and is in the dog room... ;-)
If this is the case, get a can of compressed air, TAKE THE COMPUTER OUTSIDE, open it up and blow out the inside of the computer.
Calm the neighbors down, it's not some gigantic toxic cloud, merely 3,256.7 dog's worth of fur now wafting downwind. (I have had a variable number 3-5 dogs in the household over the last several years, I know whereof I speak! :)
Now pull and re-seat all the drive connections and RAM. The battery is on the motherboard, it is a lithium cell that looks like half of a AA cell.
