iDVD is a DVD authoring app. What you are probably looking for is Apple's DVD player. I'm making an assumption that you have a DVD-rom hardware installed since you make no mention but you say the disc mounts on the desktop ? My own experience with getting my 9500 running os 9.2 to play dvds required that tinker. If you have some time on your hands... see this.

Hi All,
I have a 9600/G4 700 with 400 (something ram, not at computer), running os 10.2.8. Works great and I'm having no problems at all. But I have a question, I have an ata 100 card in it, with a 25gb hard drive, and I just installed a dvd player. When I installed 10.2.8 I had no dvd player so I guess the software for it wasn't installed. When I put a dvd into the player it shows up and everything on the desktop, but does not play it. I went to system pref and opened cd-dvd's and put for the computer to automatically start idvd, but again it does not start. I went to the apple site to check on idvd, but it looks like they want you to pay for it. Does it come with 10.2.8? If it does, is there a way to install now.
thanks, Bob
