I'm not certain what the solution is to your situation since my 9500 is running OS 9.2. I installed 10.2 on that machine but it was unstable and since I didn't have time to mess with it, I just ran the machine on OS 9.
The link I sent you works but in OS 9. Sorry but that's the extent of what I know. You might try other forums and places like http://www.xlr8yourmac.com and see if you can find more info which pertains to "Jaguar" and dvd players and so-called older unsupported Macs.

Hi Again,
So am I to understand that I just can't install an internal ide cd/dvd player in the computer and get it to work?

Bob,
iDVD is a DVD authoring app. What you are probably looking for is Apple's DVD player. I'm making an assumption that you have a DVD-rom hardware installed since you make no mention but you say the disc mounts on the desktop ? My own experience with getting my 9500 running os 9.2 to play dvds required that tinker. If you have some time on your hands... see this.

Good luck. Peter
