Hi,
Apple supported drives are needed to use IDVD. Can't remember about the apple dvd player, but it probably needs it too.
Third party burners and drives will work with toast and other players. Check out:
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
for a nice little file/vcd/dvd player on OS X 10.XX
If you want to encode video on OS X, check out ffmpeg (google it - you'll find it).
Good luck
Tom

Hi Again,

So am I to understand that I just can't install an internal ide cd/dvd player in the computer and get it to work?
