1. The best way would be to get a second hard drive, make a mirror image of your hard drive, and stick it in the closet. Let her run rampant over your Mac, and when she leaves, pop in the backup drive and it's like she was never there. 2. Take that second hard drive and put Linux on it. I doubt she knows how to use UNIX. You can set some pretty tight permissions, too, if she does. Don't teach her the following: su, man, fdisk, chmod, chowner, chroot or rm -rf / 3. Hide the keyboard and mouse. 4. Lock the computer in the closet. 5. Lock the grand-niece in the closet (but not with the backup hard drive). 6. Move to Alaska. (If you're already in Alaska, move to Hawaii.) 7. Get a keylock (like on old x86 PC's) and wire that to your Mac's power switch. Without the key in, the system won't boot, and you can't bork a powered-down system. (Make sure your great-niece doesn't have a screwdriver or else this will be all for naught.) 8. Realistically, talk to your niece about this problem. Don't read her steps five and six if you decide to do so.
