In my case, many times it will NOT fix itself, I have to
disconnect from the net to 'reset' it or even sometimes
restart because of rnaapp running. I had the exact same
problem with bellsouth and an external USB modem, which I
presume you have now. I now use the 3com PCI supplied by
bellsouth and it is MUCH better. I had nothing but problems
with the USB version. Another good thing about the PCI
version, is it has a 'control panel' that you can see stats,
and 'reset modem'. In the case of the USB, it took several
minutes till you were able to reconnect to the net if I would
unplug it then plug back in. PCI version does not have that
limitation.

Gerald,

I tend to agree with Clint on this one. I have DSL at work
and there are
times when it just won't do anything at all. Bellsouth says
there are no
known problems, I re-check all my connections, unplug and
re-plug the DSL
modem (as per Bellsouth's Instructions) reboot the PC; and
nothing works.
Then all of a sudden, Bam! I am back in business. It's very
frustrating to
say the least, but I have not found any connection with my
settings and
these "outages".

Now, a couple of questions: Does the workaround below ALWAYS
seem to work?
And have you ever just waited it out to see if the problem
was corrected
with time?
