Jeff....are you saying you did what I said and Excel is STILL trying to turn your number into a date?
I don't know why this is happening, since I told you to tell Excel it was a number and NOT a date OK....I don't have or want 2002, but in 2000, if I select a whole column or numbers and go to Format>Cells and click on the Number tab and select either Number and NO decimal places or select General, the number remains a number and NOT a date if this works differently in 2002, I don't know what to tell you.......did you actually DO exactly what I said? and it still changes to a date?? I do not need automatic decimal points, scientific numerals, etc. If I type 100401, this is a model number, not a date which the programs tries to make a date..I need this auto formatting turned off. I believe I did some of the cells, by accident, then a small green triangle shows up in the corner of the cell. Can I turn of all special automatic formatting for these?
