If they send you an alert email informing you of this like
Norton does, then that is good, you won't miss out on any of
the latest updates.

I fully agree! And, yes, it's hog all right. Unfortunately,
most PC users aren't as informed as some and don't use common
sense. They just love attachments and love to open them with
no AV program at all, or a very outdated one. :-)

No Problem, the normal updates are monthly, however,
when a new strain is detected their site is upgraded.
So many people think their system will explode id they
don't have Norton on there to send out all those warning
signs and take control of the system, and cause folks
to panic. I have used Norton & McAfee in the past, but not
for 3-4 years, I
like to have control of my system and not have some resource
hog
interfering with normal operations. One has to use plain
common
sense and not open everything out of curiosity. If it's a
strange message
or attachment, there's the DELETE key, use it. If it's
important, it will
be resent I'm sure.
I have been using AVG for over 2-years, and it has always
been there for
me and taken care of any unsafe messages along with my
prudence of
selections.

Problem with that is a SERIOUS problem. Updates only once
per month! Norton has updates almost daily, sometimes more
than once per day. There are dozens of new vir*ses out every
week, and if you don't have the latest up to the minute
updates, you'll get infected. An AV program is ONLY as good
at it's latest definitions. Save yourself tons of trouble
and stay away from McAfee.
