Which is faster DSL or Cable Modem? An AT&T Broadband salesman came to my door the other day selling Broadband. He said that my entire street had just been wired with fiber optic, and that he wanted to sign me up for local telephone service, cable TV, and the Internet through the fiber optic cable. Since there were no contracts to sign it sounded interesting, but I told him I would think about it. He said fine and left me a couple of slick glossy brochures to look over. In the fine print on the glossy for the Internet connection it said: "Ethernet device may be required for service and is available from AT&T Broadband for and additional $49.95. What Ethernet device are they referring to? I always thought that Ethernet had to do with local area networks. Is this something that I need to be concerned with, with my one PC at home?
