I sure wish I had known about this article when I originally installed the
additional ram on my system - due to the issues raised in the article with
regard to Win98, which I was not aware of when I did the memory install, I
did not know there was a work around as shown in the article. I ended up
getting rid of the additional memory I had gotten, by selling it to a
friend of mine for his computer (this upped his memory to 384 from the
previous 128) - turns out, as shown in the article, if you change one of
the system settings, the problem does not show up. And I could have used
the memory, since I want to install Win2K pro to do a dual boot on the
system, and Win2K could easily use the memory. Since memory is still rather
cheap, I think I am going to go back and get some more additional memory
for my system, and just set the window's memory setting for Win98 to the
512 max they show in the article.
Strange that there would be no article in the knowledgebase dealing with
WinXP 32-bit vesion max memory - since this is the MUCH more common version
of XP (I think for both the home and pro versions,) you would think this
would be of PRIME importance for Microsoft, especially when they now want
everyone to use XP in place of anything they were using previous.

It seems that 512MB is the limit. I finally found an MS document to confirm
this for Win 95/98/ME/SE
