As someone on the buying side of eBay, I don't ever bid on
anything sold by anyone who is not using PayPal.  It offers
security on both sides of the sale.  I don't allow PayPal to
access my checking account, back up my PayPal payments with a
credit card.  My credit card is where I would back out a charge
if something went bad with the purchase.
