Peter,
Currently, I am unaffected, but with that announcement you can bet that the
R&D folks are not gonna be doing much work on the Win98SE, or NT
systems. 2003 is only one year away and then the support goes away. You
understand, I am still driving my 1982 automobile and expect support till
it dies. I think about the way the technology keeps changing every year
with a dearth of support. Of course, that is the value of this list (and
others like it) whee we can support each other. But, it is a bit like: if I
want to upgrade to XP, I need to shell out a good bit of $$$ for new
software and hardware because of compatability issues and I am still not
convinced it is worth the inventment.

Perhaps it is not an issue, as you say, but I feel a bit pressured to
upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. It reminds me of "1984" where a good citizen
was not a "good citizen" unless they "buy, buy, buy." Perhaps H.G. Wells
was only off by a couple of decades? :)

Best regards,
Roger Williams
