Clint, I have a system with a new TEAC CD-W524E burner that isn't compatible with Roxio either. However, I installed the Basic 5.1 version without upgrading, and it works OK with my TEAC drive. Of course I don't have all the functions of the Platinum version, but all I need. Otherwise, I don't know the answer to your question, sorry. HTH Ed

I just found out that the new CDRW drive I was about to install, needs an update to ECDC 5 Platinum (which is what I use), and that update will DELETE Take Two from your system. The jerks at Adaptec/Roxio have no right to do this for win98 users since there are no issues with take two and win98! According to their site, the problems lay with win2k and XP. But, they are making win98 users pay for their ineptness in making Take Two work with XP and win2k. This is why I cannot use my new CDRW drive. Can you tell me please if Take Two can be installed AFTER any updates? The last time I reformatted, I seemingly had this problem: I first ONLY installed take two (from the ECDC 5 Platinum CD) so I could back up the basic win98 installation. THEN, after doing that, I installed drivers for everything, then installed ECDC 5 Platinum and it REMOVED take two! I reinstalled take two, and it removed ECDC 5!! This went back and forth, on and on. It took a long time and several tries to get BOTH back on my HD at the same time, but I did it. This sounds similar to the problems with the new updates. However, no updates were installed when this happened to me, I only installed the updates I needed to support my current CDRW drive after both (Take Two and ECDC 5) were installed. Thanks, -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> .................I did have a problem with Roxio CD Creator 5, when I upgraded to the Platinum version on my XP system. . .however, I found the problem was that WinXP isn't compatible with Roxio's Take Two Backup program and their FREE upgrade for XP will remove this program and then the Platinum version will work.
