Larry. That's not true in my case. If I simply format the cell as plain text BEFORE I type in 25E5, then it displays 25E5 just fine. I just did it again to make sure. If I put 25E5 in there first, THEN format it as text, it does not work...but if I put it in AFTER I format it as text, it does work. No need to use the old apostrophe trick here...and I tried it on all my installations...Excel 97, 2000, and 2002 and it worked just fine in every case, as long as I formatted the cell as text BEFORE I entered 25E5 Linda Linda, I stand (sit) corrected you are right and I will have to let on other person know that is very very knowledgeable with Excel.
