I thought I replied to this, sorry if I haven't. Can't be 3 heatsinks. I think if you look closely, you'll see it's one heatsink in 3 sections. I could have sworn you said in your first post there were 3 fans on the HS.
The PS fan is probably about to go. Usually the two wires are connected to the PCB via plastic easily removed connector. In your case it's must be soldered into the board. Yes you can cut the wires right at the fan connection and connect the leads of a new fan up to the old wires. Just be sure the colors match (black=black, red=red, if they don't the fan could run in reverse) and be sure you FULLY tape the exposed wires with electrical tape. -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner Want to exchange links with us? http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ** Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** >*easiest* thing for you is to get the combo from them, and >just replace the fan. Thanks Clint, there are three heat sinks but only one fan so I'll just get the heat sink and fan but just use the fan. Now, on another fan issue, the fan in the power supply makes noise for a minute or two when I first turn on the computer. I opened the power supply and there is no connector for the fan. Can I cut the wires and splice the wires from a new fan at that point? There are two wires and I think i read somewhere that if they get connected wrong the fan will run in the wrong direction. Is this correct? Thanks again, Tom ============= PCWorks Mailing List ================= Don't see your post?
