Gerry, With regard to eBay, will have to take a look at them, and go from there. After talking to a good friend who is a corporate lawyer (VERY different from personal type lawyers most people deal with), he is interested in the computer since he needs to upgrade to a MUCH more current system than he currently has. So the issue maybe moot, after all.
With regard to your background, thanks MUCH for the info - after reading your info, want to give you a little of my own background, and hopefully you might have run into the answer I am looking for these days. I started in the electronics field in '70, in a QA/QC inspector and verification engineer, and got into the computer industry in '74. Most of my positions have been in the QA/QC field, even when I was in publishing - a tech editor/writer does that with tech books. When I got into the computer field, I was writing a LOT of software for QA/QC dealing with manufacturing and production QA/QC operations, as well as related such as inventory, shipping. Have also have extensive background in management, training/teaching, documentation/literature/books, support, installation, and other areas - though not in any particular order listed above, as my main thrust. I also started and have worked with main-frames, mini-computers, as well as micro-computers/PCs (difference between the 2 found out a LONG time ago - and have worked with both.) Unfortunately, with the way the economy is going, I think it would help me in finding a new job if I could get certified in QA/QC, especially with having over 30 years experience in the fields. I have a good chance, IF I can find out who controls the cert process for QA/QC, of getting the financial backing for study, testing, and related. BUT, I am trying to find out who, in the US, does the certification for QA/QC related personal. As I know you know, for subjects such as products from Microsoft, Sun, Oracle, Novell, and similar, you go to that company and find out their requirements for their products, such as MCSE, ODA, Java, NCE, and so forth. BUT, when it comes to more philosophical type areas, such as training, project management, QA/QC, I would think it would be more national organizations, probably similar to the IEEE in scope and outlook, who would setup and control the certification processes and procedures in their organization, for someone wanting to get certified in that indivdual philosophical area of expertise. I have had no problem finding resources in europe but have not had much luck finding the same for this country. So was wondering, if you have run into which organization or group does the standarization and controls for QA/QC certifications in the US???? Thanks much, Ralph Gerald E.
