(I'm not getting your original posts Jeff).
I don't if any of them will actually "free up" any HD space,
but disabling them can speed up a PC and more importantly make
your XP PC less of a "spyware and trackware" device for M$.
You probably now know; but you should only disable them one at
a time to be positive they are not needed. Each PC can be a
bit different and while one may not need a particular service,
another may need it. If I had to guess, I'd say it
might...(MIGHT mind you) be the RPC ("Remote procedure call")
that could be doing it. There is two of those (on XP Pro at
least) and you may also want to check "Remote Access Connection
Manager", you could have disabled it. Seems like I remember
testing one of them disabled some time back and could not get
online. I can export my "services" settings and send them to
you off list if that would help. May give you a starting
point.

Which site did you get your information from? Unless you
computer is really
slow or there are security issues involved, I don't
particularly like
disabling services. But even if you did turn off certain
services you
should be able to turn them back on with no harm done unless
you also
deleted something.
We need more information. What exactly did you do?

Restore function did not help.
