Or you can do drag and drop from the character map if you use a compatible program.
I had to learn all this working for some French clients a while back and it does come in handy a lot.

While I've never been a defender of McAfee products, an AV program is only as good as it's settings (other than of course the latest definitions). Most, if not all AV software by default can let all kinds of things through because they don't scan everything. It could be you never had McAfee set correctly to scan *EVERYTHING*. Every AV program should be opened up and its "options", "preferences", or "settings" area, whatever, should be set to "scan EVERYTHING" in both the manual scanner and any "real time" scanner. The exception was an old version of NAV I was using where I selected "choose file types" for the types of files scanned, and I added every known file extension. That caught more than "scan all files". FYI, by default most AV software only scans Program files. This leaves a multitude of files not scanned.
As for why is it free......dunno. I wonder that a lot about many great programs and software that's free. I guess it all starts with someone who has a hobby and just loves it, and wants to work at it eventually developing some software and then just giving it away (sometimes called "Open source"). That's probably how must programs get started, but most change to making it a living and start to charge for it.
Netscape does "look good", I like it's *appearance* better than IE, but it doesn't have the features or speed of IE6. I've heard bad things about NS 7.x so you may want to stay clear of it. NS 4.9 is, well was available I don't know if it still is, so you should look into using it since 4.7x & 4.8 may not be able to be updated any longer. It looks the same as v4.79. If I recall correctly, the last time I tried to update 4.79 I couldn't. (I don't have it installed on this PC).
(How are you typing " " and what does it mean? It may not display the same in all email programs, but I see it as a VERY thin "HTML looking" vertical line, much thinner than any vertical letters like "i" or the left side of "D", etc. I just pasted it from your email to that area above between the quotes). -Clint

Hugh again, thank you for all your html teaching regarding the table tags that will take the place of the marginwidth tags (those that are inside the body tags). Maybe gradually, as I review the files in individual sections of the site, I'll make those changes.
Same thing with the CSS tags that obviate the need for font tags within the page. Usually I don't do it but should I want to change the font size for any line within the page, I'm assuming that in that case, I would have to do that with a <font> </font> tag.
While I'm typing this, I have that AVG v*irus checker going; I've already removed all references to McAfee (which I really never used because I felt it was doing nothing). That AVG is beautiful (and it's the free version), and it found one v*irus in my Page1 folder, which I think it removed. I say that because upon re-running the checker, it found no v*irus.
For anyone interested, it can be obtained at http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php just follow the links to their download page. What I found interesting is that when registering to get a registration code to complete the setup (all that's required is your name, an email address, and your country), giving them a hotmail address doesn't work. When I gave them this harold7 address, the registration was accepted. It took me four different registrations and two downloads to figure that one out.
It also checked that Read/Write CD I keep in my D-drive. That R/W CD is where I keep all backups and copies of whatever programs I've downloaded from the internet and which I think are valuable. AVG looks like one of the best things to come down the pike. My question is, why do they make this available to me; I haven't paid them a penny. I guess I can ask that about many of the freebies I've downloaded in my computer experience.
I'm still using Net 4.79 the reason is stupid but it "kinda" looks good to me; that's the only look I've ever seen. What's that about "old habits"? In time I'll probably graduate to Net 7.1 or Explorer.
