That was me that suggested AutoSizer, (what I use) since
nothing else works, at least not in my case on 98, ME or XP. I
don't know what Hugh suggested since he left out WHICH registry
key to change! But, I have tried that as well and it didn't
work. I went through the registry and tried to mod every entry
regarding "windowplacement" and all variables thereof, as well
as "size", "location", etc., etc. Never had this problem on
IE4, it started on IE5 along with a HOST of OTHER screw-ups
thanks to M$.

I tried it, Keith, and it doesn't work. Seems no matter what I
do, the
window is a tad less than maximized.

Bob writes ... "Starting Internet Explorer in Full Screen Kiosk
Mode, you
can create a shortcut that will start the Internet Explorer in
Kiosk mode.
  1. Right click on an open area of the desktop
  2. Select New / Shortcut
  3. In Command line, enter ... "C:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -k
  4. Give it any name you want (ie. IE Full Kiosk Mode).
You must close the window via CTL-ALT-DEL after it is initially
open, then
it will open in full screen after that until such time the size
is changed.
There are no menu's and all commands need to be entered though
keystrokes
(eg Ctrl-O to open)."

I did it and like Clint says, I don't want that "full full"
window (I can't
even see the taskbar with that one; not only that, the upper
right hand
buttons aren't there and cntrl/alt/del is the only way to close
it). It's
interesting; I've never seen that window, never heard of "kiosk
mode" but
it's not what I want.

I tried the registry trick:

a. Start Regedit
b. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Internet
Explorer/Main
c. Delete or rename the key Window_Placement
d. Restart IE

In that "Main" key I even checked a box there indicating "full
window" (of
course, backed up the regiestry first), and again, nothing
happened. And as
for Hugh's suggestion:

And Hugh's suggestion ...

Opened IE
Window not full size
Ran Regedit, Checked registry Key
Closed registry
Back to IE, clicked resize box to full size window
Closed IE
Ran Regedit, Checked registry Key, did not change
Closed registry
Opened IE, still full size
Shut down IE
Ran Regedit, Checked registry Key, did not change
Closed registry
Opened IE
Window opened full size
Shut down IE via File/Close
(or clicked the X box, both worked the same)
Shut down windows 98
Booted windows 98
Opened IE, window opened full size
Ran Regedit, Checked registry Key, value changed

Hugh, I say this with all the kindness I can give (all I see is
that you are
opening and closing IE and checking some registry key) ... I
don't know what
you are talking about ... please break it down to steps. Maybe
Clint is
right, there's nothing that can be done. I havent done it but
someone here
said, "If nothing helps, try .
