<SNIP> > In Netscape, it was convenient if I wanted to see if some site I
might be looking at and wanted to save was already in my Bookmarks folder; I
would enter the URL to see if maybe I already had it, EVEN if I had changed
the name of the site in the Bookmarks folder ... the URL would always be the
same. <SNIP>

Is all you want to do is to be able to search the Fav's folder? Just right
click the Fav's folder and "Search", then use the 2nd option of "a word or
phrase within the file", I assume that's on Win98. If not, then I don't know
what to tell you. I'm not sure why you want to "insert the URL of the
favorite in the Find box".....since you obviously already have the URL since
you are placing it in the Find box.?

RESPONSE . That's the whole point. I'm not looking for a URL; I'm looking
for a Favorite that *has* that URL. Let's say I see a page that interests me
and I am thinking of saving it. However, some time ago, I might have saved
that exact page (site) but changed the name of it when saving it (I would
often to that because it might be easier to recognize with a name I give
it). Now I might want to see if I have that page before saving it anew. The
only way I would know would be to "find" it using the URL, which would
probably remain the same, both on the internet and in my Favorites list.

Entering "text" doesn't do it, entering the name of the page won't work
because I might have changed the name in the Favorites list. In Netscape,
one was able to do that, to find a bookmark using the URL. I'd like to be
able to do that in IE. Is it possible? . Harold

I guess you could go to the global PC search, then just search the Fav
folder and use the other option of "containing text" or whatever it's called
on '98. This 2nd option will find text WITHIN the shortcut. Like if you KNOW
the URL has domain.com IN the URL, but you don't recall the extension like
domain.com/somethingyouforgot, all you do is put "domain" in the 2nd search
box and it will find that domain or any shortcuts with "domain" in the URL.

RESPONSE . just tried it and THAT worked. If by "global" you mean using the
general Find applet in Windows 98, I see that entering a URL in the Text
line (of Window 98 Find applet) does find the Favorite, regardless of how
the name might have been changed. --- Thanks, Clint

Btw, in this matter, I still think Netscape was easier. You were able to
find (or move) whatever you wanted, using any clues you had, directly from
the Bookmarks list. In IE, that can't be done from the list or from the
"Organize Favorites" window. It's a moot point because for under $600 one
can today get Windows XP with an 80 Gig harddrive and all the bells and
whistles. Of course, along with that comes other problems; that's
progress. --- Harold
