Jeff, I had a host who decided to set up a proxy for it's email server
but the new setup meant that only 3 or 4 email clients would work with
it, something with the login would confuse the client and new settings
would have to be inputted EVERY time email was sent or received. They
lost a lot of customers shortly thereafter, and went under quickly too
which was a shame as their support was top notch beforehand.
I have dialup and when my email client is offline it's fine, as soon as
it's online it automatically checks for new mail with no problems.
Aside from the email, how do you enjoy your new host? Any experiences
could be helpful to others on the list. I know I could use new sources
for hosts :)

Peter,
Setting Outlook to check mail would likely work, but there are times I have
Outlook open and
no Internet connection.
It surprises me, when I run into a host that does something like this or only allow you so
many emails per hour, but don't tell you when signing up.
It annoys me these companies doing these things to cut down on SP*M, but at the
same time
interfering with legitimate emails. Just my thoughts.
Thanks for the input.
Jeff

Jeff, what are the specific settings needed for the email?
Can you set Outlook to check the email every minute or two, or does that
slow things down too much?
I have had a host in the past with a similar setup which initially
played havoc with my client until I set it to check continually.
Check with your host for login timeout settings and work with it from there.
Does this happen if you set the connection to IMAP from POP?
