Melvin:   On additional question --- a very basic, and probably stupid question --- "What is the step-by-step process to save the attachment"?   I hit save on the e-mail message with the attachment and save only the e-mail message.  I hit the attachment with the left clicker once and then "save as" and I still only save the e-mail message, but not the attachment.  When I hit the attachment with the left clicker tweice I get the message that the pdf attachment is improperly decoded.   Many thanks for your help.   Paul Anderson   ----- Original Message ----- From: Melvin Backus To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2003 8:21 PM Subject: Re: [PDF-Basics] Hi Paul, I've had numerous complaints from friends and clients with essentially the same complaint.  They, like you, were using Outlook Express.  It seems to be a fairly common issue.  For some time I found that having them save the attachment first, then opening the saved file worked reliably, but I've since found that in several of the cases, the problem was related to file associations being missing or wrong.  Make sure that the association for the pdf extension is assigned to Acrobat.  If that still doesn't resolve the issue, or it is in fact already that way, you should still be able to fall back to the "save and then open" mode.
