Hi Jens
Yes, in the original Word file the Cyrillic was tagged Ariel but was an extended code page as you say. When it imported into Quark [4.1] it came in as symbols and the only way I could get the Russian back was tag it into Ariel CYR. Unfortunately this doesn't help with PDFs. Would it be easier if I used a PS version of this font instead? I don't have Ariel in PS at the moment but could get it if it were a solution.
Regards
Peter

Hallo Peter,
Arial CYR is normally not a real font, it is just a code page variant inside the font Arial. Try to use Arial instead of Arial CYR. The name in the font file is Arial, so Acrobat can't find this font.

Hi Creating PDfs from within Quark Xpress with PDF Writer, I can't get a cyrillic version of Ariel to print, I just get loads of question marks. In Quark I use Ariel CYR and it displays and prints fine, but not in PDF. I
tried, as a last resort, wiping on the ?????? with the text tool in Acroba [5] to set it to Ariel CYR, but that font didn't appear in the list of fonts despite being installed and available to other software. Have also
tried various ways of outputting - Distiller, Postscript on file and then converting, but nothing works. I could use some help/advice on this one.
Best wishes
Peter
