I think a point of clarification is necessary.
OpenOffice is a "free" suite of products, muchlike Office.
It is not like Acrobat which will make PDF files from existing documents. One
either needs to create a document in OpenOffice, or convert an existing document
to OpenOffice.
If I am missing something here, please jump
in.
