Hi all,
First, the details: Acrobat 6 Pro (sing standard PRESS profile), Win XP, InDesign 2.
Now to the problem: Recently I have been having PDF files rejected by the prepress division of a major Sydney newspaper. The usual rejection comes with a request that I convert all fonts to outlines because they can't RIP the CID fonts. This is a minor annoyance to me at present (duplication in the PDF workflow, multiple copies of jobs etc) but it is on the increase as another prepress section has stated that they don't "do" CID fonts.
My understanding is that the implementation of CID fonts in a PDF workflow environment should be seamless. Am I missing something here or are these prepress areas using non-standard prepress gear (QuickCut is a name that has been mentioned before) and dumping the implementation overheads back to me in the form of extra labour?
