True!

Not completely true, actually.

What GDI directly outputs *is* RGB. No doubt about that. You CAN print CMYK
PostScript with 'Grafikhuset CMYK PDF Creator 3.1' on top of GDI, however,
though such PostScript won't be portable (it's bound to your local
Distiller, which ensure that the CMYK PDF Creator plug-in WILL intervene).

Anyway, a combination of CMYK PDF Creator and Quite A Box Of Tricks provide
fantastic conversion results, especially when you set-up CMYK PDF Creator to
'Leave Images Unchanged', and then convert the document to CMYK with QBox.

The benefit is that CMYK PDF Creator takes care of text and vector based art
(which it's really good at) and QBox hereafter takes care of the bitmaps.

PitStop can be used instead of QBox though I recommend QBox because QBox can
access PDF objects that are unknown to PitStop.

Isn't going to ever going to happen without some sort of intervention. There
are ways to deal with the RGB gray, but all postscript that is created by
programs that use the Windows GDI will be RGB.

Subject: [PDF] CMYK PDF using Microsoft Word

Hi all,

Does anyone knows how to create a pre-press ready PDF using Microsoft Word
on a Windows PC ? My main concern is that the PDFs I create from Word have
RGB images and not CMYK ones. I am using Acrobat 6.

Best regards,

Pascal.
