We run Adobe Reader 6.0 from a CD successfully, even when a full version
of Acrobat is installed on the machine. Our autorun.inf looks simply
like this: OPEN=Adobe\Reader\acrord32.exe myfile.pdf

As someone else said, the installed version cannot be running or this
doesn't work. So you say, yes I've heard all of this. The reason that
I'm posting is that what you described below about the prompt for
configuring the browser and such caught my attention. During my
testing, I saw this when I copied the entire contents of the CD to the
hard drive (thinking a user might do that to speed things up) and tried
to use the Reader from that file. It was fairly ugly, but I do recall
prompts about configuring the browser. I'm not sure that this will
help, but sounds like whatever Reader is trying to run on your system is
perhaps not the one that is properly installed on your hard drive.

Denis: Have you tried issuing an execution command based on a specific
folder path to AcroRd32.exe on the CD? When we autorun our CD's, the
Reader 5.0 version on the disk runs, not the Reader (6.0) version on the
hard drive.
