What I have understood to be the correct procedure, is to first install
Reader to a machine that has no version of Acrobat/Reader on it at all. If
you have no choice about this, then you should fully uninstall all versions
of Acrobat/Reader, delete all remaining folders and then strip all
associated keys from the Registry. Then switch your machine off fully, and
do a cold start. This is very much a belt-and-braces approach, but you only
have to be thorough once.

Once you have installed Reader, you should copy the resultant folder
structure to CD so that you can re-use it. You can then install any versions
of Acrobat/Reader you like on this machine.
