To be honest, for those P&S situations, I use my digital camera (an older
Sony DSC-F55 either at 1,024 x 768 or 1,600 x 1,200 resolution).
If you haven't looked at one recently, I'd recommend either the Nikon
Coolpix 880 or the Camedia 3030/3040 although the Nikon unit leans more
towards taking pictures rather than moving pictures (as can be seen from the
abscence of sound recording).
