Even Indonesia might be considered "UNDERdeveloped" rather than
"UNdeveloped." In a message dated 1/18/01 8:18:56 AM Pacific Standard Time,

The US is the most important economic consumer market *in the world*, PENTAX
or not. The delicious part is Americans have more disposable income than most
anybody.
While a new SLR might cost $3,000, there are simply tens of thousands of
Americans who want a camera buy a $49.95 KMart APS rig just before they plunk
down cash for a $20,000 Bassin' boat, or a $85,000 RV or spend their
disposable income on expensive cruises like my Mom and Dad do, three or four
cruises a *year*. My Dad shoots everything with his old Canon F-1 but spends
tens of thousands to get to places he hasn't been so he can shoot the new
scenery. There are tens of thousands of Moms and Dads just like them in
America.
They don't own a computer, but their antiques? Whew, tens of thousands a year
buying and trading!

We surely don't concentrate our spending in any one place, since season
tickets, which the more average American wage earner buys, can cost $8,000 to
$25,000 for NBA tickets. Again, thousands line up every year, money in hand,
to get a chance to buy NBA/NFL season's tickets.
Our "poor" spend upwards of $350 for a rod and reel and thousands more for
boat slip fees, licenses, bait, fuel, travel-etc. Our "poor" cook hundreds of
dollars of meat on the "Barby" every weekend.

<<* Note that the third world here includes Canada and Norway among others,
but numbers heres are so small that they don't make much differences. The
third world is doniated by Hong Kong/China (no wonder) and Indonesia. >>

Only Indonesia and then, only parts of it, of all the nations you named, fits
the "Third World" appellation. Canada and Norway are bonifide "industrial
nations" by any measure. Even Indonesia might be considered an
"UNDERdeveloped" nation rather than "UNdeveloped."
HongCong/China is a "developing" industrial nation as opposed to the stomped
down designation indicating "poor and undeveloped."
