I don't consider a hard drive to be "saving". The nature of the
beast is transitory. Right now, CD is the way to go for
permanent storage. I don't know a lot of people with CD burners.
I bet the % is pretty miniscule.

Negatives come back from the lab in pretty good storage media.
After that, it's just keep em dry and at comfortable temperature
for reasonable stability. Lets say 95% do OK or better, and
maybe 5% actually go to some effort (this is amateurs, not
professionals, who I expect to be at 100%) Digital camera
owners? I dunno, I doubt very many do anything more than dump em
on the hard drive.

I think the two pretty much go hand in hand. Let me ask you: How
many digicam owners don't own a computer?

10 years. I bet there is a little lithioid battery in there
keeping them alive. Battery life of a lithioid is about 10
years.
