Thanks for the replies. I am making fast progress here. So it seems I have
to live with 800-1000 speed and to see where this gets me to.

A couple of questions still remain. 

a) Aaron suggested Supra. I understand for portraiture Porta is the way to
go if you want to stick with Kodak. The bride will be wearing a dark red
dress (like deep dark red wine) and has a very light skin tone with blond
hair. I figure I will have troubles with high contrast to overcome.

b) Mafud suggested the new Porta B&W. I am completely unaware of this
product and not sure whether it is available in the UK. What is the
difference to Kodak T400CN? From what is available on the Kodak web-site
it seems to be optimised to be printed on colour paper, is that correct?
So far my favourite in this branch is the Ilford XP2 super. Seems easier
to get results I am happy with from this one than T400CN.
