So, Bob, you had something of an epiphany, did you. Your point
is well taken, and, speaking only for myself, the importance of
quality throughout the process is paramount, and not only wrt
lenses, of course. Camera/lens/film plane should be aligned for
the highest quality negatives or slides. Processing must be
careful, and enlargers must be aligned with their baseboards.
Ctein suggests that enlarging lenses be checked for misalignment
as well, and that enlarging lenses can frequently be off
center. There is only one way to attain quality, and that's by
sweating the details.
As for your recent experience with high quality projector
optics, will you be tossing that Kodak "lens" and getting
something better?
