Hi,

I'm looking for a relatively dependable, rugged K-mount Pentax camera that
is simple - not in the sense of "good for learning how to take pictures" but
in the sense that there is little that can break. My coordinates: I don't
need AF nor flash, like to know what exactly is being metered so I prefer
spot or at least center-weighted metering (if I use an M lens, this
condition rules out MZ-M, doesn't it?). I shoot mostly landscape, portraits,
still life.

Now I have a chance to buy a used ME Super or a used K1000 (from 1995). What
are the main weaknesses of these cameras, what are their typical defects?
For instance, I have heard that with ME Super, shutter speed lights tend to
stop working for some speeds. If the ME Super breaks, will I be able to get
it repaired, given that it was discontinued some 15 years ago? Will these
two cameras work better in extreme conditions (e.g., low temperatures)
compared to more hi-tech MZ/ZX bodies?

Thanks a lot for any suggestions/advice.

Michal
