Mike, I cannot speak for any other company but Czech Republic based Foma Bohemia (maker of fomapan b&w film and fomaspeed b&w papers). Foma is a company that definitely conforms to EU environmental laws. Moreover, local environmental laws are in certain aspects more strict than those in EU. Even trouts living in the river Elbe near Hradec Kralove (Koeniggratz) where Foma factory is located appreciate that and they are very demanding on the water quality. :-)
The fact that it is made in Eastern Europe does not say anything about quality or care about environment. I think it's better to buy film from a company that conforms to EU or North American environmental laws. --Mike
