The "ist D" looks like what each of us thinks it looks like. I think the
left side of the camera, as you face it, looks like a PZ. The right side
looks like the "ist" 35 mm film version. From a manufacturing and
marketing standpoint this makes some economic sense. Because the digital
state of the art is so fluid wouldn't it make sense for Pentax to dip into
already available parts bins to help keep costs down, knowing that model
upgrades are going to come fast and furious.
