I don't mean it overexposes all the time. But in matrix metering mode, it usually overexposes, usually 0.5 EV, in contrasty scenes. This is at least my experience, with the slide films I use.
An exposure of +0.5 EV is, in my opinion, better than an exposure of -2 EV (which a centerweighted metering can do). No meter is perfect, but I've found multisegment metering to be closer to reality. If you don't like, then use centreweighted or spot. That's the beauty with the MZ-5 and MZ-5n, you have a choice. The main purpose of multisegment metering is to help beginners achieve better exposure, those (like us :-) ) who are not beginners, can achieve a better exposure with centreweighted metering in combination with exposure compensation. Or using spot meteri in tricky situations. Or using multisegment metering with exposure compensation (like I do).
Best wishes, Roland
