Paul, I can't comment on the 24-50 mm lens but I've had the F70-210mm for 15 years and have had no issues with it at all. I highly recommend it, a good buy for the money. Built like a tank, has a somewhat "rubbery armor" finish to it, makes me think military every time I heft it. It's probably my most used lens. Has gotten me many fine images. No complaint about performance although I've yet to run a lens test on it. I got a second one a couple of years ago from KEH (http://www.keh.com) for around $150 in as new condition.
