I have a persistent attachment to the screwmount Pentaxes, as well.
While I have a Spotmatic and ESII, I have had several pre-Spotmatic
Pentaxes, too (an H3v, then an H3, a lovely black H2), although the
only pre-Spotmatic Pentax I own now is a very nice SV. The lines are
somehow more pleasing than the Spotmatic bodies, and they have
wonderful uncluttered viewfinders without even the distraction of a
meter needle. I also like the look of the lettering "A S A H I
PENTAX" on the pentaprism better than the "HONEYWELL PENTAX" models,
but maybe that's just me.
List member Chris Brogden was planning at some point to put up a
webpage or at least an essay on the allure of pre-Spotmatic Pentaxes
-- is it still in the works, Chris, or maybe you could post your
essay on them again?

Check August Shutterbug for a glowing report on Pentaxes from this
era. I had a used H2, my first SLR. Wish I'd never parted with it.
