If my first impressions are any guide, it could well happen. It's MUCH smaller than the competition, uses AA batteries (supposedly ~100 exposures with alkalines and ~1000 with CR-V3). The battery grip will work in parallel with internal batteries, meaning you don't have to remove the internals when using the battery grip.
