This worm is getting a lot of press-- with good reason; it can infect computers across the
Internet without using email. To check whether you're infected (WinNT-style OS's only):

you can see if the worm program is running.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del
Choose Task Manager
Choose the Processes tab
Click on the 'Show processes for all users' option
Click on the heading 'Images' to sort the list alphabetically.
Look down the list for msblast.exe
If you find it, click on that entry then 'End Process'
That will stop the worm from running, but you still have to remove it from your computer.

Symantec has released a free removal tool in case you need it.

The patch from Microsoft has been available since mid-July:

If you're note sure whether you installed this, check Add/Remove Programs for 'Windows XP
Hotfix - KB823980'

As far as I know, Win95/98/ME users are not vulnerable.

and useful website and emailing: www.woodyswatch.com)
