If you had anything vital on those drives, there are companies that specialize in data recovery from such. They typically advertise in the classified section of pc mags. Although they can't usually get everything off, they can recover a lot. Not cheap, though.

USB seems to be fine. The old main board had only 2 USB ports, and I had a wireless network adapter on one and a powered hub on the other. The printer and a CF card reader hooked up to the hub. Those all were unaffected. Fortunately, my scanner also emerged unscathed, even though the SCSI card it was hooked up to got fried.
