I've used both the T6-2X and the A 2X-S on a few prime lenses
(especially the M* and A* 300/4 lenses), and I have found both TC's
to be pretty good (considering, of course, that any "rear converter"
- as Pentax likes to call them - is always somewhat of a
compromise), and I've found it pretty hard to tell them apart
optically (at least when used on the two M*/A* 300/4's).

One thing you might miss with the T6-2X is the "A" electrical
contacts on the 2X-S, which might be important with the newer bodies
(including the *ist-D, I guess), though that's not much of a concern
for me on my LX's and Super A's.

On the other hand, one nice thing about the T6-2X is that it is
physically shorter than the A 2X-s - it's almost as short as the A
1.4X-S, or about the same size as the F 1.7 X, and it does make for
a better companion for such compact lenses as the M*/A* 300/4's.
