If you decide to go this route, just make sure you research it's
reliability, as I've heard numerous first hand stories of them
failing.

Another option would be a similar device that will burn CD's directly.
A 512 or 640 will fit nicely on a CD without wasting too much space.

Again, reliability is key if your only copy of an image is residing on
the device or CD.
